Photovoltaic solar systems are non-conventional sources of renewable energy that reduce the environmental impact produced by traditional energy sources. This technology has been on the rise for more than 20 years, however, in Colombia its implementation has been gradual. The airport sector is an industry that generates high emissions due to the secondary sources that airports have, since these are made up of generators that work with Diesel; In the case of the island of San Andrés, being a territory that is not connected to the other regions of the country, it bases its energy generation on fossil sources. Colombia has a high potential for harnessing solar energy as it is located on the equator; In this case, the island of San Andrés is located in the Colombian Insular Caribbean, the region that receives the greatest amount of solar radiation in the country, therefore, the use of renewable sources based on solar energy is highly recommended.
