This intervention proposal is an analysis of the current situation of solid waste management, its high production, its inadequate disposal and low use in the Francisco de Paula Santander Educational Institution in Zaragoza, Antioquia, headquarters of the Francisco de Paula Santander School, seeking to achieve in fifth grade students, and the community in general, an environmental education to reduce their emissions, reuse them, recycle them and achieve a better final disposal of them. For the construction of the proposal, some references of the international, national and institutional order were taken, whose object of study and intervention was the management of solid waste; which helped to shed light on how to address them within the context to intervene. In the applied or suggested methodological strategy, a contextualization and characterization of the target population is made, from the municipal to the institutional, three phases are proposed, distributed in eight moments, for its development; through which the specific objectives are made operational; Likewise, some techniques (Exhibition, workshops, conversations, survey...) and instruments (Videos, photographic and film records, posters and billboards, survey, questionnaire...) are defined for the collection of information and execution of the proposal. The proposal is part of the institutional research line of Globalization and Sustainable Development, in the understanding that its object of study is the environment, from the perspective of how to properly manage solid waste so that environmental education can be achieved in the population. object. Some conclusions are generated regarding the situation of environmental problems in the institution and the need for intervention; Likewise, some recommendations are made to enable a guiding north in the search for a solution to the problem that is the object of intervention.
