Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, caused by a spirochete bacterium (Leptospira spp) that has more than 200 serovars, which causes kidney damage. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae in female canines in the municipality of Lejanías, Meta-Colombia. Materials and methods: Under a descriptive study of association, 100 female canines were studied from sidewalks and the urban area of the municipality of Lejanías, Meta-Colombia, taking advantage of the sterilization campaign in the period from November 3 to 5, 2017, which underwent a semiological examination, blood sample taken for analysis by the technique of microscopic agglutination (MAT) as diagnostic laboratory aid for Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae. Results: A Seroprevalence of 1% (1 canine female) with L. icterohaemorrhagiae with 1/200 dilution is evidenced. There is no association between age and origin (rural or urban), however, the evidence shows an association with the factors of temperature and color of mucous membranes (pale, icteric, cyanotic, hyperemic or pink). Conclusions: With the seropositivity found by Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae, the municipality of Lejanías, Meta, would not represent a risk from the epidemiological point of view due to the presence of the disease in canine females.
