Although research on palliative care has increased in recent years; little research has been done on nursing students' perceptions of the training they received in undergraduate courses and on the experiences they have had in palliative care in their practice process. Objective: To describe nursing students' perceptions of palliative care through a systematic review. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was carried out; 15 articles on the perception of nursing students in relation to palliative care were included in the qualitative synthesis of the information. Results: From the identification of the results of each article and the horizontal reading of the relevant findings, 4 categorical units were identified: Importance of palliative care, Need for training, Negative experiences and Importance of clinical practices. Conclusions: In the systematic review, there was a considerable lack of studies of nursing students' perceptions of palliative and end-of-life care in a practice setting. The need to provide more knowledge on this subject to professionals who provide care in these settings is pointed out.
