Alternative diets for companion animals have become very important in recent years due to the dislike of the guardians for traditional concentrates, that is why there has been much talk of the term BARF; these have as a principle to offer raw and biologically adequate food. As every trend has had good and bad results, this is why in this article we want to talk about a very important issue such as the prevalence of microorganisms in these diets and their importance in public health, taking into account the zoonotic risk.
