Descripción el bienestar animal de bovinos de levante en la sabana inundable de Arauca – Colombia (finca Tréquina, Arauca), mediante el ajuste metodológico del protocolo Welfare Quality
The present research work was to describe the animal welfare in cattle of the Levant in the floodplain of Arauca - Colombia (farm Tréquina, Arauca), through the methodological adjustment of the protocol Welfare Quality®. The present work was developed under the agreement 0021 of 2013 between the municipality of Arauca and the CIPAV Foundation, in the component of Research in evaluation of productive parameters in arrangements with Silvopastoral Systems (SSP) and rotational grazing. The evaluation of animal welfare was carried out in three production models: introduced pasture system associated with timber trees and multipurpose savannas (Spint-ca-rp); (Bpi-rp) and bass system with native grass in flooded savanna (Bpn-rp). In each model, two commercial Zebu and F1 (Romosinuano x Cebu) racial components were evaluated. These parameters were: good diet, good housing, good health and natural behavior of the animals, to obtain indicators of animal welfare of cattle . Complementary tests to the Welfare Quality ® protocol were carried out for cattle as they were (environmental evaluations, thermal comfort assessments of the animals, among others), in order to obtain data that allowed to know better the animal behavior, and to analyze the degree of Impact of the Welfare Quality® protocol in the region as a useful tool in different cattle production parameters in summer and winter seasons.
