This formative research will explain the reasons why it is proposed to implement a home purifier to improve the quality of water consumed by the inhabitants of the municipality of Alto Baudó, Choco. Initially, the formative research explains the importance of this resource for the human body as well as for the daily activities of any person, on the other hand, it analyzes the problems from the current situation of the sector in different economic, social, political aspects, among others; to the different conflicts that the department has faced during its history and how all these factors have influenced the problems that the population has nowadays. In addition, the possible causes that provoke the problem and everything that happens around this as the lack of resources, lack of knowledge, lack of training, etc., are also analyzed the consequences that this problem has triggered on the population (children, adults, older adults, pregnant women) where gastrointestinal infections and malnutrition are highlighted. A review of the literature that deals with this issue and the possible solutions that different authors have tried to implement is also made. Taking into account that the department in question has a significant poverty index, the implementation of a home purifier represents a viable solution not only because of its practicality but also because of its low cost, using materials such as sand, stones of different types, plastic bottles, etc. Finally, it is proposed to make a purifier that provides significant benefits to the community, among them are the reduction of pollution due to poor disposal of waste, improvement of the quality of water ingested by the inhabitants of the sector, and the correct disposal of waste produced in homes. Additionally, it describes the operation of the purifier, its characteristics and properties.
