This research paper is focused on developing speaking abilities in ninth grade students. In this case through extracurricular activities that improve this type of learning. The type of applied research is mixed. With that in mind, the study too place at Aurelio Martínez Mutis institute with their ninth grade students and their teacher to get to know the context, the approach students have with the English language and how familiarized they are with extracurricular activities. Through a test we have identified the difficulties students have with the language, learned the main processes the teacher utilizes for improving fluidity of speech in the English language through an interview and habits students have with the English language through a poll. After this data collection was done, the main conclusion is that the student’s English level was lower than it should be for the grade they were currently in, students also have interest to learn the language but have low motivation to do so and the teacher has applied certain strategies in the past for improving in the likes of roleplays, dialogs, and repetition. In the end, extracurricular activities have been made at the end of this research paper that are relevant for the type of ability students lack.
