Introduction: Feline leukemia virus (ViLeF) is a gammaretrovirus with a high infective capacity that can affect domestic as well as wild felines. In most of Latin America, therefore, in Colombia, the presence of the virus is reported, presenting a prevalence of approximately 20%. The objective of this monograph was to establish promotion and prevention factors associated with the feline leukemia virus. Methodology: a strategy based on the prism method was implemented with inclusion criteria, also, exclusion on feline leukemia prevention published in a window of observation from 1977 to 2022, the databases managed were Google academic, Pubmed, Redalyc, Scielo and Researchgate, the keywords were managed in two languages in English/Spanish, using the Boolean connector AND (feline leukemia virus, prevention, feline leukemia, public health, diagnosis, leukemia, prevention ABCD, retroviridae small animals). Results: The results observed, subsequently reported in the literature refer to the fact that the possible factors associated with this viral disease are the high population of stray cats, lack of education of the owners, scarce notification about the presence of this virus, insufficient education and prevention plans in animal health that help to know the management of the disease on the part of the veterinary zootechnicians. Conclusion: It is necessary to implement education plans for feline owners and animal health professionals in order to apply strategic health plans to prevent the transmission of the disease.
