Frecuencia de signos y síntomas asociados a la atm, relacionados con diagnósticos de dtm registrados en las historias clínicas de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia en el año 2008
The temporomandibular joint, TMJ, is formed by the lower maxilar and the skull. It considered ginglymoarthrodial for the movements that realice in the differents planes, is composed by muscles, anatomics structures and ligaments. When an alteration is presented in the function of any of this structures we are talking about temporomandibular disorders. The purpose of this transversal descriptive retrospective study was to describe the frecuency of Signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders in patients attending to the Integral Clinics for Adults in the first semester of 2008 from the findings registered in medical records (168 patients). RESULTS: we found that women (104) consulted more than men (64), only 2 women reported pain corresponding to 1.9%. Regarding to sings in the medical reports none was followed by hop(16.20%), click(6%), sound(4.8%) and crepitus(2.4%). However, it is important to say the high frecuency of no sign reported in the clinical reports with a 64.7%. The articular diagnosis reported in the medical record was lower, (73.1%) it could suggest that there is a sub-record by bad or incomplete diligence in temporomandibular joint auscultation.
