Efectividad de las terapias asistidas con animales en niños y adolescentes con trastornos del espectro autista (TEA) y trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH)
The practice of treating human diseases through the use of animals has a fairly long history, which is why great efforts have been made to define and describe these interventions, exploring their efficacy and effectiveness. In general, it has been reported how beneficial this type of therapy is, for this reason, we seek to know its benefits in the behavioral, physical and psychological field in pathologies such as autism and ADHD, especially in children and young people who suffer from it and have been treated with therapies accompanied by animals. The review includes 14 articles of systematic reviews, where one of them is in Portuguese, the others were published in English. The main results are divided into the positive effects on behavioral, cognitive, psychological and physical symptoms. Similarly, there are very few studies on the effect of these therapies in patients with ADHD, so it is suggested that the effects registered with respect to autism spectrum disorder can be generalized together with these, which is why it cannot be performed comparison of results to determine in which disorder these types of interventions are more beneficial.
