This research deals with the self-injurious or self-destructive behaviors that adolescents present. Starting from the acquisition of various documents in which their approaches come from clinical, social and educational bases. In this way, the stated objective is to carry out a qualitative, descriptive documentary review of the various behaviors, methods of self-harm in adolescents and possible relational causes. Therefore, in order to obtain a detailed analysis of the data, matrices (of review, documents and findings) were carried out that allow identifying the various categories or dimensions that correspond to self-harm behaviors in adolescents and youths that comprise the ages of 12 to 19 years. From which, it can be concluded that the relevant factors that trigger this behavior can be well evidenced either by presenting pathological or only emotional symptoms. Most adolescents can be said to be devoid of expression of emotions, given that they fear being rejected for their thoughts, beliefs or a host of characteristics seen in the social environment. That is why many adolescents tend to go to experimental alternatives with their bodies, so they are oriented to use cutting, for example, as one of the greatest defense mechanisms.
