This is a cross-sectional descriptive study whose objective was to determine the prevalence of vertical malocclusions in patients treated in the clinics of the Specialization in Functional Orthopedics and Orthodontics of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Bogotá headquarters, between 2006 and 2007. The sample There were 83 medical records of patients over 10 years old, with profile radiographs taken at the same radiological center, overbite greater than 60% and negative overbite greater than -1 mm. Incomplete medical records, with previous orthodontic treatment, missing teeth or the presence of dental prostheses and a history of trauma or maxillofacial surgery were excluded. T-Student test, Chi2 and Pearson correlations were performed. Results and conclusions: 32.5% of the patients had an open bite and 67.5% had a deep bite. In 39.8% of the habits it was unspecified. 44.6% did not report habits. 12% had tongue thrust and only 3.6% reported digital sucking. 35.45% of the patients had dolichofacial. 45% mesofacial and 19.5% brachyfacial. Of the dolichofacial patients, 52% had an open bite and 48% had a deep bite. Of the mesofacials, 21.6% open bite and 78.4% deep bite. Finally, of the brachyfacials, 19% had a deep bite and 81% had an open bite.
