Herpesvirus type 1 and 4 infections are usually the most common presented and least treated in equines, thus producing respiratory diseases, epidemic miscarriages, sporadic myelitis or latent infections less diagnosed. To improve the diagnosis of EHV-1 and EHV-4, horse breeders and producers should be educated about the behavior, contagion and development of the virus since unfortunately in Colombia there is little information and veterinary doctors are not very familiar with what is important. what is this disease and the high mortality rate that it can have due to being underdiagnosed and poorly treated.
