This summary corresponds to the research report of the study entitled: Sociocultural meanings on gender violence in young people in Bogotá. An interpretive study in the key of Gender, which originates from the need to know the sociocultural meanings about gender violence that are still in force in youth in the city of Bogotá, despite the existence of multiple campaigns and public policies in favor of to reduce the indicators of gender violence that continue to be alarming and that are transmitted to the new youth generations. In principle, the exercise consisted of identifying the relationship between European, Latin American and Colombian studies on gender violence; as well as, a definition and theoretical typification of concepts that are intimately connected, such as: gender violence, social construction and sociocultural meanings, and youth; Meanwhile, sociocultural constructions are defined as those structuring logics and collocations in constant symbolic interactionism that engrave cultural patterns in society that legitimize, from the conceptions and practices of individuals and groups, gender violence, understood as systematic aggressions that they are committed against one gender or another. In this dynamic, it is the new generations like the youths that are strongly influenced by these social constructions, since they are in the process of instituting and building their own identity and their ways of being and acting in the world, from what is culturally inherited and what ends up being done in his body as a space for social interaction, to be later externalized from the private (intimate) and the public (social). In this way, the main purpose of the study is to carry out an analysis of the sociocultural meanings of gender violence in young Bogota citizens, through a qualitative research process and under the symbolic interactionism approach. To achieve the above, a field work was developed that consisted of fostering conversations and collective deconstructions together with young people, as well as dialogues through interviews with experts, and surveys of 100 Colombian and Colombian teachers, to know the degree of knowledge and experiences related to gender violence and its implications for youth. Subsequently, the investigative exercise implied, not only knowing the perspective of young people in this regard, but also making an approach to the perceptions of teachers, experts and experts on said social problem. Which led to the creation of a pedagogical proposal that allows addressing these violence designed with and for youth.
