Guadua is a natural material that has the ability to grow on almost all continents and usually adapts to most climatic environments. For this reason, it turns out to be an alternative, innovative and sustainable material for construction, contributing greatly to contemporary engineering development, since its physical and mechanical properties make this material feasible and with great potential due to its great advantages and possibilities for use in the construction, which highlights its rapid growth and maturation (4 to 6 years), lightness, flexibility, low cost, high resistance and high seismic resistance. Likewise, it contributes to reducing the environmental impact. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to expose and publicize the current uses, regulations, techniques, technologies and possibilities of guadua as an alternative material for construction in Contemporary Engineering at a National and International level.
