In recent years, global organizations such as WHO and PAHO have identified suicide as a public health problem. Therefore, health professionals are interested in identifying the reasons why these types of cases occur worldwide, understanding suicide “as that self-inflicted act that is carried out to cause death voluntarily and deliberately, in the one that presents successively the suicidal desire, the suicidal idea and the suicidal act itself ” (Nizama, 2011. p.01). Regarding the above, it is relevant to determine which are the circumstances that, linked to the life experience of each individual, can promote suicidal behavior, relating factors such as age, gender or culture and seeking an interrelation with different fields in the area of health that can help mitigate the high rates that currently exist, and according to this, it is important to mention that throughout the document the common factors that can cause suicide are reviewed.
