Educators and practitioners of dentistry, should contribute to education in health and the prevention of disease, in order to incorporate knowledge on oral health, and encourage habits that promote health and to achieve changes in the behaviour of communities, bringing it to overall health. Objective: To know the activities of prevention of diseases affecting the oral health, carried out by students of eighth, ninth and tenth semester, the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia headquarters Medellin-envigado. Materials and methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional study, 129 students from semesters eighth, ninth and tenth, enrolled in the clinic of the adult, who conducted a survey; participation in the study was voluntary and confidential. The information was analyzed in the SPSS software and the results were presented in tables and graphs of frequency.Results: to inquire about education in oral health and prevention activities, 41.9% say to always perform risk assessment, 57.4% are fully in agreement on the importance of oral health education and 86.2% of the students taught forever and almost always, information about the care of your oral health to patients, their way of doing is 47.3% verbally and graphically. Conclusion: The students believe that the patient must always be instruction in oral health prevention and promotion and are always or almost always prevention activities in their clinical practice.
