Evaluación del bienestar animal en equinos estabulados en pesebreras ubicadas en el casco urbano del municipio de Arauca por medio del protocolo de evaluación de bienestar animal contemplando los indicadores directos e indirectos de macías 2009
This article deals with the evaluation of animal welfare (BA) in stable horses in stalls located in the urban area of Arauca and correlated with the survey carried out to the respective caregivers, with the objective of describing the conditions in which find these animals, determining if they are in the acceptable BA parameters, applying direct and indirect factors established by Márquez (2010). This appraisal was applied in three (3) mangers (crib hatch, crib and the fairground crib) located in the urban area of Arauca with a total of 35 horses, dedicated to the sport of coleus, in the results obtained we observed that 86.6% of equines (30 horses) had a moderate body condition and 11.4% (5 equines) were moderately fat. Within the daily management practices, all equines receive the feed divided into three rations, water is available and the stables used in the stables are of continuous type greater than 8 hours, being an indicator for the presentation of behavioral problems stereotyped as aggressiveness, Rolling of the previous train, walking, manoteo, among others, in addition the people who remain in the care of horses have not received training in subjects related to the BA.Itwasevidencedthat 37% of horseshadscarsonthemidlineribs, whichcorrespondstothe position of thebootspossiblytothe use of spurs and are notrelatedtostabling. Regardinghealthmanagement 100% of thestables in whichthehorses are found are cleaneddaily, in addition medical assistancetotheequines of the 3 stablesevaluatedhave a veterinarianevery 15 daysor in case of emergenciesfor a total of 99.9%, alsothe 35 equinesevaluated in thisstudy coincide with an antiparasitic treatmente very 3 months, withpreviouslystipulated dates.
