The solidary social and business practice seeks that, through the knowledge acquired in the course of training as Zootechnical Veterinary Doctors of the Cooperative University of Colombia, provide solutions to problems that may arise in the sector attached to professional techniques. In clinical practice, its objective is to identify shortcomings in the processes of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of both large species and companion animals to propose and promote alternative solutions that help improve the efficiency of clinical processes and the service provided to the community. Although a critical patient receives pre-hospital care until they are treated in a properly equipped unit, it is necessary that this first care be of quality so that the evolution of the patient is as expected and to reduce the long-term consequences in the animals. It was possible to identify some shortcomings in the primary care of patients with critical illnesses thanks to a retrospective study of the case material in the small animal clinic of Central Pecuaria-Sede Girardot. For this reason, an improvement plan was carried out that includes, in addition to care protocols, the acquisition of equipment such as an oxygen concentrator, multi-parameter monitors and serum biochemistry equipment that intends to help not only the patient but also improve the service provided to the community and contribute with the financial growth of the company.
