This study analyzes the behavior of labor informality in Bogotá in the period 2005-2015. It is understood that labor informality refers to a concept that encompasses all those activities outside the law that are caused by the great barriers imposed by the formal sector. Thus, in this work a literary revision is made about the theories and investigations that have been elaborated on labor informality, in particular, documentation that has been found for the case of Bogota DC, which has served as a guide to determine the behavior of the informal sector. The method that is carried out is descriptive, because it manages to identify the characteristics and elements that compose and describe the procedure of labor informality for the period indicated; With information obtained from: Socio-economic perspective of the informal sellers of Chapinero, in Bogotá, Colombia (Rincón & Soler, 2015), Cuadernos de economía (Restrepo, 2012), The Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH) of agreements for the formalization of employment in Bogotá, Colombia, 316 of 2011 (Foro Nacional de Colombia, 2012), DANE, among others. The results of this study show that the causes of labor informality in Bogotá are fundamentally structuralist and institutionalist.
