Prevalencia de caries dental y refuerzo educativo para su control en escolares de Labores, Belmira (Antioquia) Fase 1: Prevalencia de caries dental en escolares de Labores
Introduction: Dental caries continues to be a public health problem due to its prevalence and implications in the affected population. The child population is still more vulnerable, due to its dependence on adults. Objective: Evaluation of the prevalence of caries and the result of an educational strategy for control that includes schools, teachers and / or caregivers of the Rural Educational Institution-Labores. Materials and methods: Quasi-experimental study in schoolchildren in Labores Belmira. In the first phase, a clinical evaluation and an educational reinforcement for the prevention of dental caries were carried out. In a second phase, a reinforcing educational strategy is planned and evaluated before and after its implementation through a questionnaire on oral hygiene, oral self-care and importance (parents, caregivers and teachers). The clinical evaluation for dental caries according to the ICDAS criteria and risk assessment of the SEIF. A database was designed and the preliminary information of the first phase was analyzed in the SPSS statistical program. Minimum risk study according to resolution 8430 of 1993 with clinical diagnostic activities in a first phase and then educational activity strategies are carried out to strengthen the knowledge of parents and educators, understanding that they are important actors in the comprehensive educational process of schoolchildren. Results: In the first phase, important information is given on the prevalence of dental caries in the school population of the study. It is expected in a second phase, to archieve the implementation of an educational strategy in an oral health for schoolchildren and to know the result of the implementation. It is expected to have the necessary tools for the maintenance of good oral hygiene in the Labores Educational Institution. It is expected that teachers, parents, tutors, schoolchildren and children for education and improvement of the lives of schoolchildren, get involved in the project and practice what they have learned. Tools will be given to continue with the preservation of oral health in schools, which results in a strategy that can be maintained over time implemented in other generations
