ABSTRACT The way in which the methodological instruction for learning health sciences is imparted is constantly evolving, so it must be reviewed and renewed, since the pedagogical needs require it so as not to fall into obsolescence. Within this context, the role of the student is a neural point, for which an integral learning alternative is sought that fully responds to what is needed in the face of current academic challenges. Through this bibliographic review, we seek to group and unify the theoretical concepts of the teaching and learning methodology of dentistry that are reported in Colombia, to build an idea about the different methods and the evolution in the teaching of the profession. For this reason, the main question posed by this review was: what are the teaching methods of dentistry in Colombia? In addition, it was considered how they have evolved in recent years, in order to identify their strengths and disadvantages.
