Currently domestic beef production in Colombia has remained stable, has competitive advantages from its geographical location and with factors in the livestock sector that make it highly competitive internationally such as technological processes, livestock rearing, monitoring and consistency in the production process and certifying its products with high quality standards. There has been growth in this sector, since 9,703 tons of beef and veal were exported from Colombia to the world in 2017 and 16,067 tonnes were exported in 2018, With this result, Colombia demonstrates that it has a health-oriented strength in bovine production. The local livestock market in Colombia has shown important advances in the areas of health, technology transfer, modernization of slaughter processes and transformation of the sector, that allows it to be competitive on the world stage, being considered the sector with a high potential and an adequate level of beef production (FEDEGAN, Colombian Federation of Cattle Breeders, 2018). The meat sector in Colombia has highly competitive advantages 99% of cattle in Colombia are 100% grazed. Over the last three decades significant advances in bovine and porcine genetics have been made, which is a determining factor in the quality of meat, in addition to progress in protocols for access to beef products in markets such as China, Japan, and South Korea. The meat sector has a production of 944000 tonnes of meat equivalent to carcass meat, the fourth largest beef-producing country in Latin America.
