Love should be a pleasant, beautiful and positive affective bond that could give us so many things, but emotional or affective addiction is what turns love into a test, where it acts transforming it into something terrible in many cases, at the same time that it affects self-esteem and quality of life in the subject who suffers from emotional attachment to the partner, gradually exhausting the individual and tormenting him (Castello, 2012). Based on the aforementioned, the current research is directed towards the adolescent and youth population, in order to determine possible cases of emotional dependency and, if so, the level of emotional dependency towards the partner in female students from 18 to 19 years old. years at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, where the Emotional Dependence Inventory was applied, being a quantitative investigation with a sample of women aged between 18 and 19 years; The sample was chosen from a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, where the population to be studied is characterized by inclusion and exclusion criteria that are fundamental for carrying out the present investigation, after which it was found as a result of this investigation that if there is a presence of emotional dependence in the women evaluated, manifested at a significant level according to the qualification standards of the IDE instrument, in addition to this, variation was found in the scores obtained in the seven dimensions to be considered by the same instrument
