The present systematic analysis of literature was carried out in order to analyze and make visible the importance of the political cartoon in Colombia, which is conceived as a communication tool that transmits a critical message about different social, political, cultural and religious positions. For this analysis, different opinions of authors such as Beatriz González, a Colombian historian and artist, were reviewed who, through her research that lasted more than 35 years, tells us important data about the history of caricature in Colombia from independence to the present. Likewise, León Helguera and his literary work notes on a century of political caricature: 1830-1930 where he makes a very important approach to political caricature in Colombia. On the other hand, some articles such as those by Julián Eduardo, Judith Lucía and Diana Carolina were taken into account: on the articulation of political caricature as a source for social research in Colombia: state of the art and perspectives at the beginning of the 21st century, we reveal the importance of the image in a society and how it can modify people's behavior, their feelings and ways of thinking. In accordance with the above, we will analyze the cartoon from its beginnings to the present, to understand the importance and its impact on traditional media and social networks
