This paper studies the potential of video games in social sciences teaching. It first analyses the perception people have about video games. Then, it considers their use inside the classroom and, finally, its specific use in the teaching of social sciences. This study focuses on the use of this tool at primary and secondary edu-cation in the last decade (2005-2015). Similarly, it investigates the teaching of social sciences provides through video games, educational simulation, history in virtual environments, the concept of serious games and the didactic use of video games. Additionally, it reports the results about 30 documents, including, among other, articles from specialized magazines, master’s and doctorate theses in areas related to Social Sciences.
