Dropouts in education is a phenomenon that affects students, their family, the environment and the institutions. In Colombia, the dropout rate reaches almost 50% in higher education. This problem is deepened even more when attrition is addressed in the first four (4) semesters of university degrees. The study presented below shows an analysis of the factors that determine students’ dropouts in the Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages at Unidad Central del Valle del Cauca (Uceva). The necessity to investigate this phenomenon was the fundamental reason for carrying out this study. By means of a quantitative methodology, the factors that determine students’ dropouts from first to fourth semesters BA program were analyzed.
