Since 1960, role play has been a technique used for educational purposes, initially, it was employed in psychology fields and subsequently, it was used as an efficient tool to improve the oral skill in foreign language students. It permits to use the language in real contexts and situations. Similarly, the dynamism of role play boost and encourage learners in their learning process due to the opportunity they have to interact with the environment and with their partners. For this reason, the aim of this research is to use role play as a method to develop the fluency in the oral skill of English language. In this way, it was made with fifth grade students of the Educative Institution “Gimnasio Pacífico” specifically at “Julia Becerra” School. However, to follow this process, it was taking into account the real context of the students; it means to have in mind the most visited sites for them. It was done by choosing the three topics which were used (In the Restaurant, in the Park and in the Store). Therefore, after having an approach with several role play theories, it was implemented the methodology of Carol Livingstone in her book “Role Play in Language Learning” which establishes some steps to do the role play activity having in mind important aspects as the previous knowledge of the students, the roles and functions, the preparation of the class etc. Additionally, the introduction of vocabulary was done according to each topic used taking into account basic expressions and the correct pronunciation of the words. Then, the first evaluation was done by using an instrument that permits to determine if a speech is fluent or not. It was created by Dr Graham Williamson language therapist in United Kingdom. After this process, the second evaluation was done, where the students improved a lot their use of the foreign language. Besides, they could develop the fluency and also some aspects as the use of vocabulary and the pronunciation.12 For that reason, Role Play had a positive impact in the students because they could have a real approach with the language. Similarly, they could use this technique for the first time by showing a suitable response; it was reflected for their interest, their motivation and their good performance in all the activities
