Diseño del programa de vigilancia epidemiológico para el uso de solventes químicos empleados en el blindaje de vehículos de una empresa ubicada en el Distrito Capital, Colombia
The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) arises from the need to standardize the dangerousness of chemical substances worldwide, as well as the way of expressing the category of effects on human health, the environment and physical goods. The company object of this study is dedicated to the armoring of vehicles and the production of armored glass, it is located in the center of the city of Bogotá. In this manufacturing process, 96 chemical substances are used, where solvents were prioritized, since this chemical group is among the substances with the greatest danger to the health of workers. With the characterization of health risks through the GHS, identified the danger of each solvent used in the workstations of the vehicle armoring process, later the risk assessment was carried out applying the GTC-45 methodology that allowed recognizing the most harmful chemical solvents in health and thus generating active surveillance in jobs and workers exposed to these substances. Based on occupational medicine, biological indicators and occupational medical examinations were identified that will allow the employer to identify and monitor exposed workers who present early symptoms of occupational disease or those that can be categorized as confirmed cases of occupational disease. Finally, an epidemiological surveillance instrument was designed, which will allow the recording of relevant information in the Epidemiological Surveillance Program, as well as the monitoring of preventive and corrective measures within the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
