This book shows the design and implementation of three didactic proposals that contribute to the understanding of the effects of Cannabis sativa consumption on the nervous system, in three groups of students of Basic Secondary Education, in Bogotá, to promote assertive decision making. versus consumption. In its development, the level of approach to the consumption of psychoactive substances and the conceptions that the students had about the effects of the consumption of Cannabis sativa were characterized. The didactic proposals were designed and applied from the teaching for understanding approach in two institutions and from the social-cognitive pedagogical model, articulated to the PEI of each of the participating institutions. Basic Education students, IED teachers and teachers from the Francisco José de Caldas District University of the Bachelor of Biology curricular project participated in the project through Action Research. This research contributed to rethinking the teaching of biology from a contextual perspective, which contributes to the solution of social problems from the training of students with critical thinking, development of skills and scientific attitudes, necessary to promote self-care behaviors against the consumption of psychoactive substances.
