This research presents a description and analysis of the state of the art of research in environmental education in Latin American countries based on the review of scientific articles published in journals indexed in Web of Science, SciELO and Scopus in the period between 2011 and 2015. A data matrix was made with the different items that could be of great importance for the solidification and veracity of the results, in order to implement the most adequate bibliometric indicators for our research.For the search, the descriptors Environmental Education and Environmental Education were used, which should be integrated in the titles of the respective publications to be considered. We analyzed the information with the support of a descriptive statistical analysis that considered those variables present in the scientific articles, some of them as, the dominant language within the publications in environmental education was portuguese. in Ibero-american, Brazil stands out as the country with the highest number of publications in environmental education, followed by Colombia and Spain. It is also noted that the magazines generated in this country have a higher impact factor and institutional affiliations, however, worldwide publications in Ibero-american have a lower ranking compared to countries such as the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
