The main objective of this research work is to generate elements that serve as contributions for the integration of Cota in a regional context, based on primary and secondary information, mainly from the period 1950 - 2017. These elements are presented as a scenario and three general guidelines, starting from a description of Cota from a territorial perspective, treating the historical process from testimonies extracted from bibliography and interviews with “memory – historical” actors of the community and making the general technical characterization of the territorial transformation of the municipality; subsequently, this transformation was analyzed in relation to the “Sabana de Bogotá”, with the territorial problems identified in the metropolitan region and with the most representative connectivity and integration proposals. This analysis was consolidated in a final SWOT matrix that, through the relationship of its components (Internal and external aspects of the municipality), supports the decline or survival scenario and the guidelines defined in three categories: growth, adaptation and defensive. According to the development of the previous elements, a general vision of the municipality was made, where some important aspects were determined that are conclusive and serve as a recommendation for the purposes of this work. In the first place, the theoretical and technical foundation was built to propose the elements to support the consolidation of the metropolitan region of Bogotá, from the municipality of Cota; given that it is expected, they are a tool for decision making and the creation of policies with the purpose of strengthening the territory and social processes, from the coordinated administration of the region. Likewise, the regional importance of Cota is explained, from the characteristics addressed throughout the document, as well as important aspects of the trend scenario that is being presented, which lies in the population decrease of the area, emerging economic developments, the importance of the indigenous Muisca’s reservation, the current state of Cota’s planning and the existing interdependence relations with neighboring municipalities. For its part, the recommendations are to enhance processes of reconstruction and promotion of the historical memory of the municipality that can be supported by the only Muisca reservation in Cundinamarca, the "Grandfather's house", the schools and the mayor's office as promoter; as well as the updating of the territorial planning plan that integrates the elements of policies and emerging projects such as those of regional integration.
