The aim of this thesis is to make visible the contributions to theater history and theater education in Colombia made by professor Paco Barrero throughout his lifetime as an artist, director and educator. This thesis dwells in the factors that defined Barrero´s vocation towards education and in how these turning points constitute important breakthroughs in the history of modern Colombian theater. Through the analysis of “La Cartilla”, a document that is the result of Barrero´s research on acting methodologies, conducted while being a professor and theatrical director in the theater school Estudio XXI, we can determine his methodological stem from the works of Jean Piaget and Howard Gardner on pedagogy and psychology, and constitute an innovative proposal in the fields of education and acting formation. Key words, acting, Paco Barrera, methodology, theater, Colombia.
