This work of degree aims to show interpretative and creative contributions to Colombian rock made by two great drummers like Gregorio Merchán (current drummer of Aterciopelados and Morfonia) and Carlos Cortés (current drum professor of the ASAB) through the election of nine pieces in where these musicians let see something of their compositional and creative conception in the drums. The structure of this work is divided into three essential parts or chapters. The first chapter talks about the development of rock in Latin America since the 60's and its development in Colombia until the 90's highlighting some drummers who played a key role in this story. The second chapter gives a glimpse of some details of the biography of Merchán and Cortés and their development in music until these days. Finally, the third chapter allows us to see, through a deep analysis, the drums that appear in the musical pieces, the creative and interpretative contributions that these musicians make to the drums in Colombian rock. It is not intended to say that through this work all the interpretative and creative contributions made by these two musicians will be shown throughout their musical career since it would be a clearly very broad and expensive task. What if it is tried is to show by means of the study of these nine subjects some of their compositional ideas which are of great value to the creative and compositional development of the Colombian rock.
