Guadua, belonging to the Poaceae family, is considered a strategic natural resource in Colombia due to its versatility for various uses, from artisanal applications to high-potential constructions. This species presents the opportunity to access Payments for Environmental Services (PES), mechanisms that recognize and incentivize actions aimed at the restoration and preservation of ecosystems, either through species or monetary incentives. These PES contribute to sustainable development and the minimization of conflicts on the land (Pascual & Cabrera, 2011) Currently, Colombia has some 41,532 hectares of guadua, natural and planted, highlighting the significant potential of guadua in the country (CARDER, 2018). The identification and application of different instruments, such as PES, not only improve the management of the guadua resource, but also provide valuable tools to guaduas, promoting their development as an association and strengthening competitiveness in the productive chain. This strategic approach seeks to maximize the positive impact of guadua, both in environmental and socioeconomic terms.
