Language teaching has been seen as a matter concerning only to the linguistic and communicative fields. This document shows a qualitative research focused on a documentary analysis about intercultural competence in the English classes in both Colombia and Argentina in the recent 12 years. This, as making emphasis on the way of teaching a language beyond the communicative approach. Content analysis was carried out and it was found out in Argentina it is truly important to fortify the intercultural education as for teaching English and in Colombia, it is vital to understand the meaning of cultural interaction. In both countries it is necessary to work on acquiring critical intercultural awareness and to consider language and culture as two key factors at the moment of teaching a language.
