This paper presents the results of the internship developed within the framework of the Environmental Social Service program of the Botanical Garden of Bogotá 'José Celestino Mutis', in the line of community environmental education of the Educational and Cultural Subdirectorate. This program aimed at ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students from both public and private educational institutions has the purpose of designing and implementing environmental projects linked to the School Environmental Project, to the particularities and problems identified by the students themselves about school environment. Under the environmental education strategies employed by the Botanical Garden of Bogotá, environmental initiatives were carried out in each assigned institution, in advice and collaboration of the professionals in charge of the Botanical Garden, carrying out three or four big activities by working groups with focus on the good environmental practices, landscaping and ecourbanism according to the educational institution, generating a change in the perception of their school environment, place where they stay more than 35 hours per week, making recognition and greater ownership by their educational institution. The main products obtained were the vertical gardens made with recyclable material as well as the ludic workshops given by students of the Environmental Social Service to colleagues of different grades of their respective educational institution.
