This monography describes the existing relationship between the multidimensional poverty index and the competency index for the colombian central-eastern region and Bogotá, the capital city, during years 2013 to 2016, through a combined conceptual, numerical and graphic analysis of the dimensions and factors that compose these two indexes. Likewise, a social, economic and geographical diagnosis is made in each one of the geographical departments integrating the central-eastern region (Santander, Norte de Santander, Cundinamarca, Boyacá, and Bogotá City), highlighting the main competitiveness variables in which the geographical departments can generate strategies aimed at increasing its productivity and improving the quality of life of their inhabitants through the reduction of the multidimensional poverty.
