Environmental licensing in Colombia is one of the most controversial processes, since different types of projects, works or activities depend on obtaining them. To carry out the process of the environmental license, there is a rule that specifies the need, times, competence of the environmental authorities and environmental studies, among which is the Environmental Diagnosis of Alternatives -DAA-. In this work, we sought to carry out an analysis of the management model of the DAA in Colombia based on categories such as the field of application, time, definition of the content of the DAA and the participation of the actors. Through a documentary review of the norm related to the DAA from the year 2005 to the present, the changes through which it has passed were evidenced. On the other hand, we explored some of the norms that could be related to the Analysis of Alternatives at an international level and thus have a context of the relevance that they give to this type of study. Finally, throughout this analysis, some reflections and recommendations are presented on the changes that were considered relevant for the current regulations related to the DAA based on the results obtained in the development of this work.
