Research on the benefits of physical activity and sport are usually framed within the medical discourse, which represent the practice of sport as a protective factor for pathologies of cardiac, respiratory, metabolic and others. Physical activity is a crucial component of the school curriculum, and it has been shown to increase the academic performance of students. This refers to the age group of the university, especially when it is a medical and health sciences education center where higher stress levels are recorded. The IPAQ questionnaire was used to quantify physical activity; the information was provided by the study database “Caracterización de los hábitos alimentarios y nivel de actividad física en estudiantes universitarios” which used variables such as sex, faculty and semester. The purpose of the present study is evaluate the relationship of physical activity versus the academic performance of medical students of I - IV semester of El Bosque University 2017. Within the statistical analysis, the study has shown that there is no direct relationship between physical activity and academic performance in the studied group, however, it has been observed in the groups that physical activity with high intensity was associated with a lower academic performance predominantly in the male gender. This could be due to factors that together with the physical activity can be studied in the future.
