Taking into account the impact of COVID 19 on the mental health of workers specifically in the health sector, the need to identify the mental health condition becomes evident, specifically depression as one of the main consequences of the various conditions that had to be confront this population. Based on the limited information in Colombia about the impact of the pandemic on mental health in workers who treated COVID cases and considering the socio-emotional impact that may be associated with various sociodemographic, individual and environmental variables, hospital institutions are taken into account. , having as the only inclusion criterion that the participants in the study are health workers. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between care for patients with COVID 19 and depression in hospital workers. A cross-sectional study was carried out with health care personnel present in 12 Health Service Provider Institutions in 9 municipalities located in Bogotá , Cundinamarca and Boyacá, for this purpose information is acquired on sociodemographic and occupational characteristics (biosafety survey 1) and the DASS 21 anxiety, depression and stress scale; From the latter, the findings of depression were taken specifically. The results show that the prevalence of depression was 14.9% 95% CI (11.1- 18.7). When stratifying by occupational groups, the prevalence of depression in administrative and support workers was 14.0%, 95% CI (7.4 - 20.6) and for health personnel it was 15.2%, 95% CI (10.6- 19.9). Among the sociodemographic and occupational variables analyzed, it is found that the age variable reflects a highly significant relationship with the onset of depression, which is inversely proportional, that is, the older the age, the lower the probability of presenting depression.
