The Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) is a valuable tool to assess individual strategies regarding emotional regulation. Unfortunately, currently exist few validated instruments in Colombia, and the presence of disorders and difficulties related to this ability is quite recurrent. The aim of this paper to validate a questionnaire in the Colombian population. Exactly 565 people 2 between 18 and 69 ages within a test sample from different regions of the national territory; after carrying out both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, it was possible to corroborate the structure of two unrelated factors (emotional suppression and cognitive re-evaluation) proposed by the original model, as well as excellent measures of goodness-of-adjustment. Reliable measures of internal and concurrent consistency were also identified with and low correlations with related constructs such as the DERS and DASS-21.
