Introduction: Colombia has one of the highest rates of adolescent pregnancy in the Latin American region; it is a public health problem that persists despite efforts to reduce early maternity figures. These pregnancies are not planned are mainly from the lack of knowledge and the use of contraceptive methods. Objective: To describe the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods of a sample of pregnant adolescents and their couple between 15 and 19 years of age in the municipality of Fusagasugá, Cundinamarca, in the first semester of 2018. Methods: An observational descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in the first semester of 2018. The participants were pregnant women aged 15 to 19 years and their couple, who met the established criteria. A survey was prepared for the information collection, validated for experts and the data collection was processed. Results: The sample obtained was of eleven pregnant women and their partners, knowledge was rated as high at 31.81%, medium at 63.64% and low at 4.54%. Men showed better knowledge to evaluate barrier methods and hormonal contraception, instead, women knew more about intrauterine devices. Although 19 adolescents (86.36%) agreed with the use of contraception, only 4 of those adolescents were using some type of method at the time of conception. Conclusions: It is important to strengthen knowledge about contraceptive methods and encourage their use according to the individual characteristics of the population.
