Medición de la eficiencia comunicativa del sistema icónico presente en los puntos de recolección de residuos sólidos en la universidad autónoma de occidente Cali
The care of the environment has become vitally important for society, nowadays new ways and new knowledge are being sought to mitigate the environmental damage that every day seems to be strengthened more, from all fields of knowledge new practices are generated to help reduce the great negative impact that humans generate against our environment, to help in this work both public and private institutions have generated a series of campaigns for the reduction of solid waste, with different improvement plans such as the PGIRS (Plan Integrado de Gestion de Residuos Solidos), which integrates the different actors of the environmental problem, from different perspectives of the problem. This project was carried out in order to associate the areas of knowledge of graphic design to investigate new methods that make it possible to visualize other perspectives of the environmental problem, from the approach of the relationship of the users with the information established for the use of the points of collection of solid waste, this in the context of the UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE OCCIDENTE where an iconic system is set ready for users to interpret, enabling the process of separation at the source. After a waste characterization in the different containers it is revealed that these compile all the residues revealing a flaw in the initial process of separation, this project as a result, shows the existence of ambiguities in the interpretation of the user in relation to the iconic system proposed, because these elements do not have precision in visual characteristics that are related to the user's interpretation and that later this would be the precedent of the proper use of solid waste collection points. The methodology proposed in this project is conceived based on the object of study, in this case the iconic approach, since this element is the main contributor of information in the communication process between the user and the point of waste collection, this object it is analyzable since it is provided with unity and independence besides that this element has a use and a function, this being the means to the phenomenon of interaction; said the former then the icon is proposed as a communicative unit that conditions an action of use, at the point of solid waste collection. the feasible way to check the inefficiency of the information point, in this case is the graphic piece that supports the iconic system, is the verification by observation of content of the cans, this in most cases is shown that they are not used the way that is available in the communication piece. Finally, an iconic system is proposed in response to the deficiencies detected in the current iconic system and a series of recommendations that educational institutions must take into account when generating a communication system for collection points based on an iconic system.
