Currently, road engineering projects are more demanding due to high loads, changes in traffic and the most abrupt climate changes, and design engineers. In order to extend the useful life of flexible pavements, engineers have incorporated the thicker layers of base material in flexible pavements. However, this strategy has led to an excessive cost in some situations. As a result, alternatives such as reinforcement and separation in soil layers have been introduced using geosynthetics, which are nowadays used in flexible pavements throughout the world, due to their excellent behavior.
