Prevalencia de los factores de riesgo que condicionan a la aparición de infección del sitio operatorio en pacientes intervenidos quirúrgicamente por el servicio de cirugía general del Hospital UNIVERSITARIO ERASMO MEOZ durante el año 2018.
Surgical site infections (ISO) constitute an important cause of morbidity and mortality in surgically operated patients, for this reason in important determine the patient’s own risk factors, preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative, leading to ISO. An observational, descriptive and retrospective, serial cases investigation was conducted, based on the 22 patients who presented with infectious postoperative complications, in the period from January to December 2018, that met the variables of the study. The general objective was analyze the risk factors related to the appearance of ISO present in patients operated by the general surgery service during the established time. Among the main results we obtained a predominance of patients between 11 and 60 years (81.82%), male sex (68.18%), lower socioeconomic stratum (72.73%), obesity (22.73%), adequate management of asepsis, antisepsis, surgical hand washing and antibiotic prophylaxis (100%), hospital stay prior to surgery: 24 hours (77.27%), 25-48 hours (18.18%) and a patient older than 5 days. The predominant surgical intervention was appendectomy (63.62%), surgery time: 1 hour (75%) and 2 hours (25%). Contaminated clean wound (36.3%) and dirty (22.7%) occupied an important place at the origin of this complication. The wound was cleaned in the first 48 hours (72.7%) and 27.2% did not. No cases of smoking or diabetes mellitus were found in the patient.
