This research consisted on the development of a polymeric wound dressing of alginate, chitosan and PVA, loaded with Disulfiram as an active principle for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis. For its synthesis, the drug was dissolved in an emulsion consisting of sunflower oil, oleic acid and tween 80, in order to incorporate it to the mix of the three polymers. This was necessary due to the hydrophobic nature of the drug.
