The problem of the individual and society relationship is a topic that has a place in the center of social theory. Classics and contemporary sociologies had something to say about these concepts and its relationships. The present work explores the fundaments of this relationship in Norbert Elias’ work through the documental analysis. It also finds the fundaments of his processual sociology, analyzing his empirical investigations. In the books of Elias that were studied in this work we can find a specific methodology for the understanding of the social problems, the critic of unfitted concepts that can not take account of the social phenomena, and the formulation on new concepts that are based in the knowledge of the concrete reality. Through a detailed evaluation of the Norbert Elias’ work we can find important definitions about the human relationships and new possibilities of investigation.
