This paper presents an analysis of the approval process of external debt with the Multilateral Bank within the Interparliamentary Public Credit Commission, through a review of the minutes of the sessions held by the congressmen between 1996 and 2016. The research presents some characteristics of the members of the CICP as a political party, gender, region and profession and seeks to establish if these influence in the moment of making decisions regarding the contracting of debt with the multilateral organisms, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) Autonomous Financial Corporation (CAF) now called the Development Bank of Latin America, taking into account the significant value of resources given as loans to countries such as Colombia.
